Working hard to give back to the community...

Wards2Here at Coopers, we work hard to give back to the local community, which is why we recently chose to support the children’s wards at Hillingdon Hospital on an on-going basis.

On a yearly basis, approximately 3000 children use the Peter Pan and Wendy wards at Hillingdon Hospital. Both wards deal with a variety of specialities including oncology, haematology, orthopaedics, general surgery, and general medicine to name but a few. So we decided that we would like to help as much as we possibly could to improve the facilities within the organisation.

We first visited the children’s wards in September 2013, and were told by staff that they hoped to purchase six small suction units which would enable child patients to be safely transported to and from the various buildings at the hospital. So we took it upon ourselves to fund this equipment for them meaning a monetary target of £2340.

Our first fundraising event was a company karaoke evening at a local bar  in Pinner, where we managed to raise an impressive £640.

In October, three members of our team - Mark Cooper, David Sargent and Joe Jones took part in the Henley half marathon. We are delighted to announce that collectively they raised £710. Also in October, Grant Nicholls completed Stoptober, meaning he was sponsored to stop smoking. Grant not only was able to quit smoking for good but also raised a total of £295 to contribute to the donations.

November also provided our male staff with the challenge of Movember.Movember2 Jason Mckenzie and Steven Hockley abandoned their shavers for a very hairy month and generated funds of £435.

In addition to these fundraising activities the generous team at Coopers have also contributed a further £260 from smaller initiatives. Firstly each of our four offices introduced a swear box. This meant that each time someone cursed they had to pay a fine of 20p, raising £126.50. £133.50 was recently raised by holding a raffle. The raffle prizes consisted of nine bottles of port, brandy and wine, which were great for the Christmas holidays.

We are extremely pleased to have been able to raise the money to buy the required equipment in only four months, and look forward to future fundraisers in aid of the children’s wards at Hillingdon Hospital.
