Our history

1986…

In 1986, Jack Cooper opened the first Coopers Residential branch in Hillingdon Hill. He created a company that prided itself on its personable approach, local knowledge and one in which, in the absence of internet, relied solely on referrals and advertisements in the local paper.

For many years Jack operated as a one man band and it was his friendly nature that ensured business continued. The quaint and lively branch still remains buzzing today and his patient and warm nature is instilled in all the staff.

2004 to 2009...

In 2004 Jack's son, Mark Cooper, joined the business. Mark came with the ambition to see the company evolve. It was 20 years after Jack opened the first branch in 2006 that Mark invited his close friend David Sargent to take control of the Hillingdon Sales. Their friendship, relentless hard work and perseverance meant Coopers was able to establish itself further in its local area. Mark then took Coopers Lettings to the West End in 2009 where Coopers of London opened its doors in Marble Arch. Branding had changed along with technology and Coopers was now a much larger team, but Mark and David worked to ensure the essence of the company remained.

2010...

2010 saw us open our branch in Ruislip High Street, testimony to the friendly and personable nature of the company, a friend and long serving agent of the local community, Steven Nuttall became the third partner. Mirroring Jack Cooper's plight of 1986, Mark and Steve worked to establish Coopers in Ruislip. Each of our branches have been uniquely designed to convey the modern approach that we believe in.

Enjoying central locations, our branches are easily recognisable for their contemporary style featuring images of many local landmarks, interactive maps and synonymous branding.

2012...

2012 saw 71 Victoria Road in Ruislip Manor became our fourth branch. The eye-catching design of our branches was created to provide a better service and a more comfortable one-to-one experience for all our clients. The Ruislip Manor branch, in its infancy, again relied on word of mouth and used its friendly, genuine and authentic nature to generate business.

The Ruislip Manor branch worked in close conjunction with the Ruislip Branch to provide the best results for their clients.

2013...

We took the decision to open a fifth branch in Uxbridge town centre, located in a very busy and prominent part of the High Street. We felt having a town centre presence would give our existing and future clients unrivalled area coverage. This branch also housed our ever growing property management department (before their move to our new Ickenham branch in 2015), working alongside our proactive sales and lettings teams, making this a very important part of our ever evolving business.

2013...

On the 21st March 2013 Coopers opened an office in Fitzrovia, close to the West End and in the heart of central London. The building itself is reaped in history, most notably for having 'twice' been home to Charles Dickens between 1815 - 1816 and 1828 - 1831.

It's a great privilege for Coopers to be associated to a building with such historic character and personality and a fantastic opportunity to enhance our presence in London with a lettings and a sales offering.

Coopers are now part of the buildings history and it's testament to the hard work, success and focus of the whole team that we are now successfully selling and letting properties in central London.

2014...

On January 2nd 2014 we opened the doors of our West Drayton branch. After several years of wanting to operate in West Drayton we finally found the perfect home for our new branch on the corner of Tavistock Road and the High Street. With West Drayton undergoing a large redevelopment programme combined with Crossrail coming to the town in 2018 we saw it as a fantastic opportunity for us to extend our incomparable service.

Our Hillingdon, Uxbridge and West Drayton branches could now work in unity to offer a unique platform to sell or let homes for our clients in this immediate area.

2015...

On December 19th 2015 we opened the doors to our new Ickenham branch on Swakleys Road. Previously occupied by Barclays Bank, the premises has been transformed to create a modern, spacious and welcoming space.

Having let and sold properties in Ickenham for 30 years from our Hillingdon and Ruislip offices, we are proud to finally be part of this unique and wonderful community. Recent research has highlighted there to be an increasing popularity with Ickenham among home buyers after being named the third most in-demand area due to its tube station offering easy access into central London, a close-knit community and outstanding schools.

2019...

On Saturday 13th April 2019 we opened the doors to our newest branch on Bridge Street in Pinner.

It had been a goal of ours for a long time to open a branch in Pinner, as 2 of the 3 partners had grown up and gone to school locally. We had been selling and letting property in Pinner for years from our Ruislip office, but we knew it would be a real milestone for us to open an office in the town and so we simply waited until something special came up. By chance, when viewing another unit one day, we noticed number 18 was empty, which had previously been H.C Grimstead the funeral directors and knew it was the one for us. The office now sits proudly facing the roundabout in the middle of Bridge Street, we think it's our best located and looking office yet.

2022...

David Head opened our Maidenhead branch in the summer of 2022. David joined Coopers in 2008 when we had just one office in Hillingdon. It was his first position within estate agency and he was so keen to build a career for himself that he worked relentlessly with an infectious attitude to build the Hillingdon & Uxbridge portfolio to what it is today. It's a town that we know well, with Mark going to Furze Platt School (many moons ago!). 42 Queen Street is the perfect spot for David to join as a Partner to Coopers where he will work tirelessly to help people move.
